Four Handy Gmail Features Beyond Your Notice

If somebody has an email id, it probably is on Gmail!

The synonymous nature of Gmail has brought nearly all email users under one roof. Remember when you first created an email id? Why did you choose Gmail? Why not Yahoo or Hotmail?

The reason is simple, yet often misunderstood. The sophistication and simplicity of Gmail remains unparalleled compared to other e-mail services. The magnanimity of Google in the online stratosphere is exemplified best by the unrivaled dominance of YouTube and Gmail.

However, are you aware of some other features of Gmail besides the simple ‘click and send’?

Here are the best Gmail features you probably hadn’t heard of-

1. Google Attachment Reminder

Have you ever sent a mail and forgotten to attach the ‘all-important’ file. This scenario is all too familiar. In the stress of routine office work, you might forget to pin the attachment along the email.

To save you from this embarrassment, Gmail has a built-in reminder which will prompt you to attach a file. For e.g. if you add a phrase in your email such as ‘The files are attached below’, and hit send without actually adding an attachment, Google will immediately ask you to do the same. So don’t worry about attachments when you send an email next time. Google will save you from the blushes.

2. Automatic reply

Tired of replying to emails when you’re on vacation? Gmail has a solution for this too!

The automatic reply is one of the latest Gmail features. Setting up this feature is extremely convenient. For instance, if you’re going on vacation and wish to send up a standard reply to every work email, go to setting on your Gmail mobile app, choose your account and go to Vacation Responder. You can set up the time of the month during which you’ll be away and set up a standard message.

Voila! Put up your feet and enjoy your vacation!

3. Forwarding email to another account

Though it may seem highly unlikely, your account might get hacked. If the account in question is a work account, you might be in serious trouble. Recognizing this issue, Gmail has an option of forwarding all emails to another Gmail account if such a situation does arise.

4. Labels and filters

Gmail is a model of pure organization and structure. You might get 100 emails every day from varying sources in the same inbox. The heap of emails is enough to drive anyone insane.

Fortunately, Gmail arrives at the rescue yet again.

The option to create separate labels to organize emails coming from different sources is one the standout benefits of Gmail. To make sure each email arrives in its given label, Gmail allows you to use filters. These filters make sure each email is dropped under the right label.
